The breathtaking drama film “Never Let Me Go” is shot on the basis of the same name novel, written by British writer of Japan origin, Kazuo Ishiguro. The top 100 bestseller from acclaimed writer can be seen on the widescreen now.
This is a touching story of a woman named Kathy, who meets her schoolmates Tommy and Ruth, and together they start to remember their childhood, spent in an English boarding school. While living there, the friends have no idea of the world outside. But this is a question of time. Very soon the main heroes know all the truth about the seemingly idyllic place, they have got into. This is a place, where human clones are grown up for the further organ transplantation. The destination of all pupils of the school is the same – to become organ donors one day.
The main theme of the film is a human love and friendship, which appear to be the most significant values for three friends despite the terrible circumstances. These values help Kathy, Tommy and Ruth to confront cruelty, jealousy and betrayal.
The film is directed by filmmaker Mark Romanek. Carey Mulligan stars in the role of Kathy; Andrew Garfield plays Tommy; Keira Knightley appears as Ruth.
