The animation debut of eminent filmmaker Zack Snyder follows the fantastic adventures of a young owl named Soren, who is inspired by epic stories, told him by his father. These are the battle stories of the brave Guardians of Ga'Hoole – the mystical winged warriors, who had saved the whole owlkind from their lifelong opponents called themselves as the Pure Ones.
But while Young Soren dreams of joining the Guardians one day when he grows up, his older brother Kludd makes fun and sneers at his childish fantasies. The only things, which matter in Kludd’s life, are his strong desire of flying and hunting and being in higher favor with his father, than Soren. But Kludd’s envy results one day by terrible consequences: both the owlets fall from their dear nest, situated on the treetop and got into predatory talons of nobody else, but the Pure Ones.
Soren has to do impossible to escape and save the other owls’ lives. Together with his followers he flies through the mist above the sea in search for the Great Tree – the kingdom of the mythic Guardians of Ga'Hoole. The legendary warriors are the last hope of the owls to overcome the evil in the face of the Pure Ones…
The film is based on the original books, written by Kathryn Lasky.
